My story
About Skyler
I believe yoga is one of the most generous gifts you can give yourself. I'm here to help you unwrap it.
How I found my own magic
For me, yoga started as one of those desperate attempts to pacify my crippling anxiety and depression in college. And hey, it worked! (Well, only when I actually got on my mat.) But it was actually a bit later that I started to really tune into yoga as a deeply personal, spiritual practice rather than just some occasional stretches I did in my dorm room.
When I started having some major health issues around 2022, restorative and chair yoga came to the forefront of my practice and kept me going. It was through this experience that I learned the true diversity of the practice of yoga- that yoga is for truly everyone no matter their age, abilities, or body type! (among plenty of other things.)
I felt inspired and decided to complete my 200-hour teacher training because I wanted to share what I'd realized. As someone who is not petite and able bodied, and therefore does not conform to the typical picture of yoga we tend to see on TV and social media, to be able to say that, "Yes, I am a yoga instructor! What about it??" is SO empowering- and I hope I can empower others who may have similar thoughts and experiences. Not as some expert standing at the front of a room — but as someone who's been on the mat through the messy, beautiful, ordinary moments of life.
My teaching philosophy
Yoga isn't about perfect poses or flexible bodies. It's about showing up — for yourself, on the mat, in your life. My classes are welcoming, unhurried, and always adaptable. Whether you're working through an injury, have mobility restrictions, are managing stress, or simply curious about what yoga can offer, I'll meet you exactly where you are.
Every body belongs
Yoga is for every shape, age, and ability. I offer modifications for everything and judgment for nothing.
Breath first, always
The breath is the foundation of every practice. We come back to it again and again — especially when things get hard.
Progress over perfection
There's no such thing as a perfect yoga pose. There's only your pose, today, in this body, in this moment.
